"My two brothers and I grew up in an area that wasn't the best. Yet while we were leading healthy, successful lives, many other young people in our neighborhood were having problems. What was the difference in our lives and theirs . . . why did we make it when they didn't? We were surrounded by a family of educators and successful adults while other kids in our area were not. This became the driving force behind the vision and creation of Making It Better . . . providing helpful and positive adult influences in children's lives in hopes that it would turn their lives around."
